Explorers Camps (Ages 13 to 16)

Our Explorers Camps challenge campers to grow their curiosity, creativity, collaboration and critical thinking skills in our one-of-a-kind camp offerings!

These academic or performance sports-based camps encourage campers to connect a passion to a profession. Campers will work as a team and independently, building self-confidence and communication.


Explorers Camp Offerings

This introduces campers to molecular biology and all things Bio Bob, the legendary Ridley Biology teacher. Campers will explore how genes interact with environmental factors to shape living organisms. Through hands-on lab experiments, they’ll learn DNA extraction, gene mapping, and basic genetic engineering techniques. Each day introduces concepts like genetic variation, adaptation, and biotechnology’s role in solving real-world problems. Participants will also discuss ethical questions surrounding genetics and environmental science. By the end of the week, they’ll have a deeper understanding of how molecular biology impacts our lives and the world around us.

Step into the world of medicine at Future Doctors, where aspiring healthcare professionals can explore the exciting field of medicine! Through hands-on activities, you’ll learn about anatomy, medical tools, and the basics of diagnosing and treating common ailments. Discover how doctors use problem-solving, critical thinking, and compassion to help patients. Each day, you’ll engage in interactive workshops and labs, learning about the human body. By the end of the week, you’ll have a deeper understanding of the medical field and the skills that could one day make you a future doctor!

Through hands-on projects, you'll learn about engineering principles and apply them to real-world challenges. Whether you're building bridges, designing simple machines, or experimenting with robotics, you'll gain valuable problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Work with your team to brainstorm ideas, test prototypes, and refine your designs, all while learning about different fields of engineering, from mechanical to electrical. By the end of the week, you’ll have a deeper understanding of engineering and the creativity it takes to shape the future!

Unleash your creativity and business savvy at Future Entrepreneurs, where you’ll learn how to build and launch your very own business plan! Over the course of the week, you’ll explore key aspects of entrepreneurship, including market research, product development, and financial planning. Collaborate with fellow campers to develop a unique business idea, craft a pitch, and create a plan that covers everything from branding to budgeting. Learn valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication while gaining hands-on experience in real-world business challenges. By the end of the week, you’ll have a complete business plan and the confidence to start your entrepreneurial journey!

Join us for a dynamic week exploring how bold thinkers and innovators shape today’s political, economic and social landscape. Campers will step into the roles of policymakers, strategists, advocates and entrepreneurs as they tackle real-world challenges facing Canada and the global community. Through hands-on activities, debates, and simulations, they build a strong foundation in political leadership, ethical decision-making and media literacy.

Throughout the week, participants examine how emerging technologies — especially social media and AI — shape public opinion and influence decision-making at every level. They discover how responsible leaders use power wisely, communicate with integrity and create meaningful change in their communities and beyond. By the end of the program, campers leave with sharpened critical-thinking skills, increased confidence and a deeper understanding of what it means to lead with purpose in an increasingly complex world.

Discover the exciting world of computer science in this hands-on introductory programming camp! Throughout the week, campers learn the fundamentals of coding using Java, building a strong foundation in problem-solving, logic and computational thinking. Each day blends clear instruction with guided activities, brain breaks, creative challenges, and practical exercises — from writing a first “Hello World” program to exploring variables, data types, operators, arrays, methods, parameters and user input. Campers will also experiment with algorithms, search and sort techniques and abstract data types as they gradually build more complex programs and digital creations.

Working step-by-step through real coding problems, participants gain confidence using industry-relevant tools such as Java, BlueJ and key Java libraries. They explore how programs are structured, how computers process information and how to design clean, readable, well-commented code. By the end of the week, students will have created a collection of interactive projects, such as simple calculators, drawings, search-and-sort demonstrations and even their own digital “pet,” while developing the skills and curiosity needed to continue their coding journey. No prior experience is required; simply bring your creativity, patience, and enthusiasm to learn!

In this exciting introductory camp, campers will immerse themselves in the world of filmmaking by exploring the different stages of production. Through interactive activities, they will discover how to combine essential elements to craft compelling, emotionally resonant stories.

Focusing on creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, this camp provides the perfect foundation for budding filmmakers to develop their storytelling skills and gain a deeper understanding of the filmmaking process. Whether capturing a dramatic moment on camera or creating the perfect soundscape, campers will develop a newfound appreciation for the art of filmmaking and storytelling.

Campers will take part in a wide range of interactive, high-energy activities designed to build real acting skills and creative confidence. Each day focuses on a different element of theatre — drama, comedy, clowning, character work, and stage presence — giving campers a chance to explore what they enjoy most.

Through hands-on scene work, theatrical improv games, script analysis, and acting exercises, teens will strengthen important abilities such as quick thinking, clear communication and collaborative problem-solving. Campers will work closely with peers, building strong teamwork skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for the performing arts.

This camp provides a fun and supportive space where teens can express themselves, push their creative boundaries and grow both as individual performers and as part of an ensemble.

Each day, campers will practice forming arguments, handling counterpoints, and debating various topics with peers through parliamentary debate. By the end of the week, you’ll be ready to confidently tackle any debate challenge

Whether you’re new to these games or looking to refine your skills, Fields offers a fun, energetic environment to grow as an athlete.
